How we verify
Every figure on this site comes from an official government source, and every page shows when we last checked it.
Where the numbers come from
We use primary sources only: state labor and tax agencies, statutes, and each city's or county's own ordinance. National trackers help us notice changes, but we never publish a figure from them without checking the official source.
What the colored rule means
Checked against the primary source on the date shown.

How we keep it current
Automated monitors watch every source page and rate file. When one changes, a person reviews the change and the official source before anything on the site is updated. Nothing is published automatically.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it and record the change on the corrections page. If you spot an error, tell us.
