California fast food minimum wage
A separate, higher minimum wage for employees of national fast food chains, set by state law (AB 1228) and the state's Fast Food Council.

Who it covers
Employees of limited-service restaurants that are part of a national chain with more than 60 locations nationwide, with some exceptions. The state Labor Commissioner's FAQ, linked above, has the full definition and exemptions.
How it interacts with other rates
Employers pay whichever rate is highest. A city's general minimum wage applies to fast food workers if it's higher than the fast food rate, but cities can't set a separate fast food minimum. Covered exempt managers must earn at least twice the fast food minimum wage for full-time work.
